Yesterday I listened to a talk by Michael Albert (IOPS, International Organization for a Participatory Society) who presented the idea of Participatory Economics (Parecon). Parecon proposes an alternative to capitalism and builds on the following five pillars: Solidarity - Diversity - Self-managing councils - Equitable remuneration - Empowering work.
